S.C. Tobacco Festival Golf Tournament set for Sept. 23

The S.C. Tobacco Festival Golf Tournament has been scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Lake City Country Club. This year's event will be a Four Person Captain's Choice Tournament. Each team will have a minimum total handicap of 40 with only one player with a handicap of seven or less. Handicaps will need to be verified by a club pro, USGA handicap or subject to approval by the tournament committee. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team. You can arrange your own team or the tournament committee will place you on a team if you sign up as an individual. Entry deadline is Friday, Sept. 21 by 6 p.m. After play, there will be an awards party with food and drinks for all participants. Tee times will be by a shotgun start beginning at 1:30 p.m. If there is a large turnout, a second start will be at 8:30 a.m. There will be prizes for the winning teams, prizes for "Closest to the Pin" on the Par 3s and a Longest Drive. This year's tournament will also feature a Hole in One Contest. This will be the third year since the golf tournament has been a part of the festival events the events after being off the schedule for a number of years. In his remarks concerning the upcoming tournament, Tournament Chairman, Tarrell Floyd said, "It is a great afternoon of fun, fellowship and golf with monies being contributed to our local Chamber of Commerce. All golfers in the area need to get a team together and come play with us. If you don't have a team, we will find you one!"
