BAT Rewards Distributors

VERSATILE distributors of British American Tobacco (BAT) Malawi products were on Friday given motorbikes and cash prizes to strengthen their businesses. BAT splashed prizes over K2 million to bicycle distributors based on the quantity of products sold and total mileage covered from April to July end. The company gave Ntaibu Mussa, a distributor from Ngabu and Moffat Mitembe from Chitakale in Mulanje a motor bike each for coming tops in the marketing season. Mussa also got K40,000 as overall winner for the southern region. BAT Trade, Marketing and Distribution Manager Wanangwa Thindwa said, during the presentation, the company decided to run the competition to reward its bicycle operators for a job well done. "Today we have gathered here to award a very important wing of our distribution channel of our products, our three months to ensure that they earn more through growing their businesses," Thindwa said. He said apart from motivating the distributors, the gesture was also part of the company's campaign to empower indigenous Malawians. "The motor bikes have been provided based on coverage and business growth and we want you to use them for its intended purposes and that is to grow your businesses further," Thindwa said. One of the recipients, Mitembe, hailed BAT for introducing the competition which he said had motivated the distributors to work harder. "Some of us go very far away using bicycles and it is very difficult but with now motorbikes things will improve," Mitembe said. The company also splashed cash prizes of K40, 000 each to regional winners, Mabvuto Theu (centre), Joseph Kanyenda( north) and K60, 000 to national winner Alfred Nyirenda. Enditem
