NGO Slams Maharashtra for Allowing Sanjay to Smoke in ja Source from: in.news.yahoo.com By IE Monday August 6 08/06/2007 Burning Brain Society (BBS) on Friday said that actor Sanjay Dutt has become the victim of his own tobacco addiction. The society claimed that with reports regarding Dutt suffering from hypertension, breathlessness, chest pain and other problems appearing in the media, its contention stands vindicated.
The BBS said it had warned the Maharashtra government in the representation dated August 2 about the possibility that high tobacco intake can lead to hypertension.
In its representation the BBS stated that consuming tobacco is not a constitutional right of any person, as tobacco is neither a food, nor a life saving drug.
"Hypertension, breathlessness, chest pain, etc. are not symptoms of nicotine withdrawal but rather of nicotine poisoning which is caused due to heavy smoking, (including high levels of passive smoke) and Gutka intake," said the statement.
Referring to the news reports, the BBS said that ample supply of of both Cigarettes and Gutka is available to Sanjay Dutt in the prison. Enditem
