Italy CPI Incld. Tobacco Up 0.2%; HICP Inflation Revised Down

Italian consumer prices index-CPI including tobacco grew 0.2% on month in June, the latest report from the statistical office ISTAT revealed Friday. On a yearly basis, the CPI climbed 1.7%. The initial estimates, released on June 28, were confirmed. In May, the consumer price index gained 0.3% and 1.5%. Compared to the prior month, the CPI excluding tobacco rose 0.2% in June, while it climbed 1.6% annually. The latest report showed a downward revision for harmonized inflation numbers. In June, the harmonized consumer price index - HICP increased 0.2% on month and 1.9% on year. The initial report showed that the HICP moved up 0.3% on month and climbed 2.0% annually. In annual comparison, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco posted the biggest gain of 4.4%, while prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 2.5%. The largest decline was witnessed in communication costs, which slumped 9.5%. On a monthly basis, transport charges gained 0.8%, while communication costs fell 1.1%. Enditem
