Newly Established Leaf Tobacco Redrying Company Undergoes Technical Transformation

Chenzhou Tiantai Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. in south central China's Hunan Province - a newly established joint-stock leaf tobacco redrying enterprise incorporated on the basis of conversion of the former State-run Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Redrying Factory - is undergoing a round of large-scale technical transformation to strengthen its production capacity that started in early May. The 2006 technical transformation of Chenzhou Tiantai Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., is intended to rebuild its mimic Mark production line on a spatial grid structure, and expand the passage outside its main workshop building by 2,550 square meters to establish a new leaf tobacco threshing and redrying workshop, in an effort to save the cost of technical transformation. The general plan for the technical transformation was formulated by Hunan Provincial Light Industry and Textile Designing Institute. Chenzhou Tiantai Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co. is applying a package of new technologies and new techniques in the technical transformation, including the SPC threshing and redrying analysis system, the remote digital control system, a new energy-saving threshing technology, the Griffin combination wind separation technology, the wind selection technology, the serial selection technology, the mid-process long stem removal technology, and the technology of automation in primary moisturization, secondary moisturization, leaf redrying temperature control and water content control. The technical transformation is expected to end by August, just before leaf tobacco produced in 2006 goes on the market. The new mimic Mark leaf tobacco threshing and redrying line to be rebuilt in the technical transformation will be of the capacity of centralized supervision and control and automatic analysis of major technological and processing data. After the new production goes into operation, Chenzhou Tiantai Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co. will be able to better meet the different demands of customers for the processing and supply of leaf tobacco, with its quality targets, economic targets and production efficiency expected to turn ideal. Chenzhou Tiantai Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co. was inaugurated on September 15, 2005 with the approval of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA). The enterprise was incorporated with investment from four entities - Shanghai Tobacco Group, Guangdong General Cigarette Factory, Changsha Cigarette Factory and Chenzhou City Tobacco Company. Specifically, Chenzhou City Tobacco Company offered 111.2207 million yuan (13.4 million U.S. dollars) worth of realities, accounting for 68.98 percent of the investment; Shanghai Tobacco Group and Guangdong General Cigarette Factory each 20 million yuan (2.4 million U.S. dollars) in cash, each 12.41 percent; and Changsha Cigarette Factory 10 million yuan (1.2 million U.S. dollars), 6.2 percent.
