Shenzhen Leaf Imports up, Cigarette Imports Down

Leaf tobacco worth $43.39 million was imported into China through the port of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, during the first three months of this year, an increase of 87.5 per cent on the value of such imports during the same period of last year. All of the tobacco was imported as 'general trade for domestic sales', according to a Tobacco China Online report quoting the Ministry of Commerce. The value of leaf imports from Brazil were said to have increased by one and a half times to $39.47 million. The value of the cigarettes imported through Shenzhen during the first quarter, however, fell by 51.9 per cent to $2.947 million. Enditem
