Qujing Cigarette Factory, based in southwest China's Yunnan Province, posted steady growth in both output and sales income in 2005, as a result of development of competitive brands. In 2005, Qujing Cigarette Factory produced 56.08 billion cigarettes (1.1216 million cases), an increase of 1.76 percent over 2004, and sold 57.99 billion cigarettes (1.1598 million cases), up 7.39 percent year-on-year, earning 7.886 billion yuan ($972 million) in sales income, up 8.06 percent over 2004, including 5.029 billion yuan in taxes and profits, up 6.33 percent.
