Kentucky Ranks 37th in Funding Tobacco Prevention

The U-S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports Kentucky ranks 37th among all states in the allocation of money to prevent use of tobacco by minors. That's ten-point-eight percent of the C-D-C's minimum spending recommendation. Kentucky now allocates two-point-seven (m) million dollars a year for what is termed "tobacco prevention." The C-D-C says the state should be spending between 25-point-one million and 69-point-nine (m) million dollars to have an effective, comprehensive tobacco prevention program. The amount Kentucky now spends on prevention is one-point-one percent of the state's tobacco-generated revenue from tobacco settlement payments and tobacco taxes. Enditem
