Boost for Spanish Leaf Production

Altadis has signed an agreement whereby it will buy annually from next year until 2008 nearly 20,000 tons of various types of Spanish tobacco from the Spanish tobacco supplier, Cetarsa, according to Expansión. This quantity is about a fifth of the tobacco purchases planned for the period by Altadis, and represents a boost for the continuation of tobacco cultivation in Spain.
