Zimbabwe Earns US$104 Million From Tobacco Exports Source from: tobaccoreporter.com 07/13/2005 Zimbabwe has earned more than US$104 million from tobacco exports in the first six months of 2005, reports The Herald. The country sold 32 million kg of flue-cured tobacco for $102.5 million and almost 510,842 kg of burley for $1.6 million.
Almost all tobacco exported during the six-month period was from last year's stocks, as merchants stockpile the leaf for several months before releasing it to the export market. Since January, Zimbabwean flue-cured tobacco has been selling at an average of $3.23 per kg in the export market. Enditem
