N.C. Leaders to Reap Thousands in Tobacco Buyout

Members of North Carolina's government stand to reap thousands of dollars -- and in one case, more than a (M) million -- under the tobacco buyout program. A report today by State Government Radio ranks those who are eligible for buyout payments. State Senator Clark Jenkins of Edgecombe County is at the top of the list, with the potential to earn one-point-four (M) million dollars over ten years. About 80-thousand North Carolina farmers and landowners are expected to sign up. Enditem
