Leaf Tobacco Redrying Factory Becomes Designated Processor for Shanghai Tobacco Group

Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory in south central China's Hunan Province has recently been chosen by Shanghai Tobacco Group as a designated leaf tobacco processing enterprise after it became a designated processor for more than 20 other key Chinese tobacco manufacturers. On February 27, a fact-finding team from Shanghai Tobacco Group arrived in Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory to conduct strict on-site inspection of its production equipment, warehouses, management systems, etc before choosing it as a designated leaf tobacco processing enterprise for it. Established in 1972, Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory is the oldest of its kind in Hunan. Now, Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory is affiliated to Hunan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, which doubles as Hunan Provincial Tobacco Company. Covering a total area of 211 mu (14 hectares) and with 159 million yuan (19 million U.S. dollars) in fixed assets, Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory is a medium-size State-run leaf tobacco processing enterprise with relatively strong competitiveness. Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory boasts two advanced leaf tobacco threshing and redrying processing lines – a-33.3-million-yuan (4-million-U.S.-dollar) energy-saving Mark threshing and redrying line installed and put into operation in the 2004 technical transformation, and a 480-million-yuan (57.8-million-U.S.-dollar) Mark threshing and redrying line put into operation in 2001. Both lines are equipped with the centralized control and remote digital control systems, and are connected to the Internet website (www.cyfk.cn) and Intranet of the factory, through which clients can realize real-time monitoring of the production process. In 2004, Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory was chosen by more than 20 other key Chinese tobacco manufacturers, including Hongta Group, Baisha Group and Guangzhou Cigarette Factory No. 2, as a designated leaf tobacco processing enterprise for them. In the year, Chenzhou Leaf Tobacco Threshing and Redrying Factory processed 540,000 dan (27,000 tons) of leaf tobacco and earned 37.72 million yuan (4.5 million U.S. dollars) in sales income.
