Farmers in the Philippines Want to Limit Tobacco Imports

Tobacco farmers in the Philippines want the government to cap the amount of foreign tobacco and cigarettes allowed into the country. The farmers contend that these imports are affecting their tobacco sales and livelihoods. Farmers are asking the government to restrict tobacco imports to 10 million kg, and they want higher tariff rates for imports exceeding that amount.
