Forget Tobacco Growers — Focus on the Victims

Tobacco growers' folly The idea that tobacco farmers deserve government assistance is just too farcical for words — and not just because they produce a dangerous product. The U.S. Surgeon General's report statistically linking tobacco and lung cancer was published over 40 years ago. I doubt that any other industry on this planet has had a longer advance warning of its own demise. So now, after all the damage they caused to people's lives and all the money they cost our health-care system, we're expected to sympathize. Sympathize instead with their victims. Enditem
