Most Farmers in Their Forth Stages of Tobacco Harvesting Source from: Newsnet (zw) By Kudzai Gumbo 01/05/2005 The Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union (ZCFU) says harvesting of irrigated tobacco is in progress and most farmers are in their forth stages of harvesting.
ZCFU President Mr Davison Mugabe said his organisation has made arrangements for tobaccco farmers to access coal.
He said adequate facilities should be availed to farmers in order to maximise yields especially on irrigated tobacco.
Earlier, Mr Mugabe indicated that he is confident that farmers will reach the targeted 160 million kilogrames of tobacco up from last year's 68 milliion kilogrammes for both irrigated and dry land tobacco.
A number of farmers have banefited from the productive sector facility funds from the reserve bank of zimbabwe to increase agricultural production.
The land bank, Agribank has disbursed $79 billion working capital to tobacco farmers while the Tobacco Industry and Marketing bBoard availed over $85 billion worth of inputs. Enditem
