Ga. Tobacco Farmers to Get $600M

The U.S. Senate Monday passed a conference report for a corporate tax bill that includes a $10.1 billion buyout provision for the nation's tobacco farmers, including some $600 million for Georgia tobacco farmers over 10 years. "As I have traveled the state in recent months, Georgia tobacco farmers have been clear that a tobacco buyout is their top priority," said Gov. Sonny Perdue. "This important legislation will have a positive impact on tobacco farmers throughout our state." Perdue also commended Senator Saxby Chambliss, Congressman Max Burns, Congressman Johnny Isakson, and Congressman Jack Kingston for their leadership on the issue. Enditem
