Zimbabwe Tobacco Sales Exceed US$116 Million Source from: tobaccoreporter.com 08/19/2004 More than US$116 million worth of tobacco has been sold on Zimbabwe's auction floors and under the contract system since the beginning of the selling season in April, reports The Herald. The current selling season is expected to wrap up at the end of August.
More than 60 million kg is expected to be sold this year with the auction system accounting for most of the sales. Auction sale prices are averaging less than $2 per kg, significantly lower than the average of $2.23 per kg last year.
