It was the first time that Japan Tobacco Inc. sent a delegation to inspect tobacco production in the region.
During the inspection, the Japanese delegation attended a symposium with Dimon's officials in charge of China operations including Dickie Green, country manager for Dimon China, Manager Zhong of Yunnan Provincial Leaf Tobacco Company and Manager Xiao Keqin of Luliang County Tobacco Company.
Speaking at the meeting, Green expressed thanks on behalf of Dimon to Luliang Tobacco Company for its fine performance in bilateral cooperation in tobacco production, and also expressed satisfaction over achievements made in the initial stage of cooperation between the two sides.
Luliang Tobacco Company showed the guests major achievements in the initial stage of its cooperation with Dimon through multimedia.
In response, a representative of Japan Tobacco Inc. said that the multimedia show enabled his delegation to be deeply impressed with the production of high-quality leaf tobacco in Luliang County.
Following the symposium, the Japanese delegation visited a local leaf tobacco purchase station, both hardware and software used for leaf tobacco purchase and a pesticide storage, saying they believe there exist good material conditions in Luliang County for the development of bilateral cooperation.
Dimon Incorporated is the world's second largest independent leaf tobacco merchant, with current annual revenues of approximately 1.2 billion U.S. dollars. The company has established long-term cooperation with Yunnan, the largest Chinese tobacco-producing region known as the kingdom of tobacco. Enditem
