Japan Tobacco to Ask Some Growers to Quit Cultivation Source from: Japan Today TOKYO 08/06/2004 Japan Tobacco Inc said Wednesday it will ask some domestic tobacco growers to stop cultivating tobacco, the company's first such request, due to falling cigarette consumption in Japan.
JT is legally required to buy all the tobacco leaf its contracted growers produce in the country and the request is intended to reduce the company's risk of future overstock, the company said. Enditem
