The Zimbabwe Tobacco Association Restructures

The Zimbabwe Tobacco Association (ZTA) has been restructured to accommodate the changes in Zimbabwe's current tobacco market. The association now has only six positions—president, vice president, chief executive, two project officers and a secretary. The ZTA mainly focuses on large-scale commercial farmers but the current market has more small-scale farmers. Rodney Ambrose has been named chief executive officer of ZTA. James de la Fargue has been elected president and Andrew Ferreira will become vice president. "The ZTA is moving forward and will be concentrating on the following issues: lobbying and representation on tobacco farming issues; information gathering; and exchange amongst tobacco organizations both locally and internationally, and negotiations with input suppliers for the benefit of tobacco farmers," said a spokesperson of the ZTA.
