Zimbabwe's MDC Leader Attacks Government's Plan to Nationalize Farms Source from: tobaccoreporter.com 06/15/2004 Morgan Tsvangirai, president of Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), has condemned the government's plans to nationalize the country's farmland.
"This is an act of recklessness," said Tsvangirai. "The chaos in the commercial farms continues. [President] Mugabe is talking of wholesale nationalism, converting the entire country, all of our land, into dead capital."
Earlier this week, Zimbabwe's land reform and resettlement minister John Nkomo announced plans to nationalize all farmland, with 99-year leases being issued to farmers. Enditem
