Key Cigarette Factory, County Jointly Develop Tobacco Production Base

Nanjing Cigarette Factory, a key Chinese tobacco manufacturer based in east China's Jiangsu Province – and Daoxian County in south central China's Hunan Province are jointly developing a high-quality leaf tobacco production base in the county. According to an agreement signed recently between Nanjing Cigarette Factory and Daoxian County Tobacco Company, the two sides will develop 10,000 mu (667 hectares) of high-quality tobacco plantations in the first phase of cooperation, and the total area of high-quality tobacco plantations jointly developed by the two sides in the county will reach 30,000 (2,000 hectares) in three years. Each year, Nanjing Cigarette Factory will make pre-production investment in the establishment of high-quality tobacco plantations valued at 120 yuan (14.5 U.S. dollars) per mu (per 0.067 hectare), which will mainly be used for building irrigation systems and other infrastructure facilities, according to the agreement. Daoxian Tobacco Company will designate technicians to guide the production of high-quality leaf tobacco on the spot. The agreement provides that all the high - quality leaf tobacco produced that meets the relevant technical standards will be purchased by Nanjing Cigarette Factory. Also recently, Nanjing Cigarette Factory signed a similar agreement with another county in Hunan – Lanshan County – on joint development of a high-quality production base in Lanshan. Lanshan County had earlier signed agreements with Shijiazhuang Cigarette Factory in north China's Hebei Province and Lanzhou Cigarette Factory in northwest China's Gansu Province on the production and supply of high-quality leaf tobacco.
