This Year will be Hard One for Tobacco Production: Bulgarian Expert

"It seems this year will be extremely hard for tobacco production because of the weather conditions," said Asen Kichukov, Chairperson of the National Confederation of the Tobacco Producers in Bulgaria (NCTPB), speaking for Radio FOCUS – Plovdiv.

In his words, if temperatures change sharply, physiological changes occur in plants.

Kichukov informed tobacco seedlings were to be set out but they had already become too high and difficult to work with.

“Setting them out has to be completed by the end of May but it could continue in such a situation by June 15 or 20, which will delay the development of the plants,” the expert noted.
According to him, the weather forecast for June is not favourable, either. Enditem
