Kenya: Tobacco Farmers Demand Pay

Busia Tobacco growers in Teso have slammed a cigarettes manufacturer over delayed payment.

The farmers said Mastermind Tobacco owes them hundreds of millions of shillings.

"The company is opening this season's market next week yet we have not

been paid last season's money," Kenneth Moti, a farmer who has been

growing tobacco for the last fifteen years, told the Star yesterday.

But an MTK farmer's instructor, who asked not to be named, told the Star the first batch of farmers will receive payment next week. Enditem
