Argentina Launches Tobacco Region Irrigation Tender

Argentina launched a tender to build irrigation infrastructure in tobacco-production areas in Salta province, the UN's Development Business website said.

The project, financed by development bank CAF, has a 452mn-peso (US$53.4mn) budget and works are expected to take 24 months to complete. Bids are due on November 26.

Argentina has 2.1mn hectares irrigated by various technologies out of nearly 35mn cultivated hectares.

The world's third largest soybean producer, Argentina aims to double the amount of land irrigated to increase grain and oilseed output. Enditem
