<strong>China: STMA Director Urges Industry to Keep the Tobacco Production Steady</strong>

During June 17th to 18th, 2014, the National Tobacco Leaf Purchasing and Modern Tobacco Agriculture Construction meeting took place in Xuancheng, Anhui. During the meeting, participants summarized tobacco leaf production in China in the first half of 2014, and exchanged the experience on the modern tobacco agriculture construction, and arranged the tobacco leaf production, tobacco acquisition and construction of modern tobacco agriculture. Deputy director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) Yang Peisen attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Yang pointed out in the meeting that since 2014, the work of strict control over tobacco leaf planting scale has achieved initial results, and the tobacco field infrastructure construction has been implemented steady, and the tobacco leaf base units construction has been moved forward, so the tobacco work has made positive progress.

Yang Peisen gave full affirmation on the experience of developing characteristic high quality tobacco leaf and the construction of cooperative of Anhui tobacco industry in his speech.

For the next step of work, Yang Peisen made three specific demands in his speech:

One is to develop the characteristic tobacco leaf earnestly.

 Second is to strengthen the construction of modern tobacco agriculture cooperatives.

Three is to optimize the structure of tobacco leaf production, and control the production of tobacco leaf.

During the meeting, China Tobacco Company general manager Chen Jianghua made a work report; delegates from Wannan Tobacco Company, in the south of Anhui province, China Tobacco Anhui Industrial Corp., Shanghai Tobacco Group, Yunnan Tobacco Monopoly Administration, Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute, and Qingzhou Tobacco Research Institute and other companies also made speeches. Delegates visited Fuchuan Service of Huiying Tuanshan Tobacco Farmer Professional Cooperative, Shanghai-Anhui Modern Tobacco Agricultural High-tech Demonstration Garden, Wannan Science and Technology Demonstration Garden in the south of Anhui, and Huangdu Tobacco Leaf Workstation.

Officials of the STMA, China Tobacco Company, related provincial bureaus (company), various directors of tobacco industrial corp. in charge of tobacco, etc. attended the meeting. Enditem
