<strong>China: Fujian Held Meeting on Biotechnology of Preventing and Controlling of Aphid</strong>

On May 6, Fujian held meeting on Technology of Preventing and Controlling of aphid by aphidius gifuensis ashmead on Changting, Fujian.

Participants visited Changting Zhuotian breeding base of aphidius gifuensis ashmead, and learned situations of the Changting base and prevention results in the fields, and listened reports on project progress. The meeting invited professor Liu Changming, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University to explain the key technology of aphidius gifuensis ashmead breeding. Participants discussed related technology, problems and gave some suggestions on the breeding project of aphidius gifuensis ashmead. It is reported that Fujian province has decided the aphidius gifuensis ashmead breeding technology route and bases construction plan.

Leaf Tobacco Department of Fujian Tobacco Monopoly Administration put forward four requirements: Firstly, all areas of the province should carry out surveys on field pests control effect; Secondly, to establish a set of operability and propagable aphidius gifuensis ashmead breeding technical specification; Thirdly, to make reasonable plans for aphidius gifuensis ashmead breeding bases; Fourth, to strengthen the propaganda and training of aphidius gifuensis ashmead breeding, and promote biological control.

More than 30 projects technical principals from all areas of Fujian Province attended the meeting. Enditem
