<strong>China: City Vice-mayor Inspects Tobacco Production in Xuanwei County</strong>

Vice-Mayor Zhu Xingyou of Qujing City in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province inspected the work of tobacco production in Xuanwei County of Qujing on April 15, specifically asking about the storage and preservation of water for fighting a current drought in tobacco production in the county, and holding talks with local tobacco growers on issues of common concern.

During the inspection, Zhu Xingyou praised Xuanwei County for having done a good job of early-stage organization and guarantee for leaf tobacco production, with the relevant measures well implemented. As a result, the county has achieved fine results in developing strong tobacco seedlings, with swift transplantation of tobacco seedlings onto fields, with fine specifications and with high quality, according to the vice-mayor.

Zhu Xingyou emphasized that the current period of time is a phase for solving hard problems in fighting the ongoing drought in transplantation of tobacco seedlings onto fields in Xuanwei County. Therefore, it is imperative to race against time in striving to complete the transplantation seasonally, make implementation of the relevant scientific-technological measures strict, exert all efforts to do a good job of storing water for fighting the drought, and strive to accelerate the process of transplantation under the circumstance of assuring quality, to ensure a perfect fulfillment of the tasks of transplantation during the best period of the season.  Enditem
