<strong>China: County Promotes Construction of Modern Tobacco Agriculture Demonstration Park</strong>

Fenggang County in Zunyi City of southwest China's Guizhou Province is actively promoting the construction of a modern tobacco agriculture demonstration park in the county, in accordance with an ambitious plan of the provincial government of Guizhou to develop modern agriculture in the province.

So far, a total of 238 million yuan (39 million U.S. dollars) has been invested in the construction of Fenggang Modern Tobacco Agriculture Demonstration Park.

Fenggang Modern Tobacco Agriculture Demonstration Park is one of the 100 modern high-efficiency agriculture demonstration parks built under the ambitious plan of the provincial government.

The park covers a total area of 200 square kilometers in five townships. Mainly devoted to producing tobacco, the park will also grow tea, paddy rice, vegetable and flowers on the sidelines. Under the ambitious plan of the provincial government, the construction of Fenggang Modern Tobacco Agriculture Demonstration Park will be completed in five years, with the total investment in it estimated at over 1 billion yuan (163 million U.S. dollars).

The construction of Fenggang Modern Tobacco Agriculture Demonstration Park was started in April 2013. So far, construction of seedlings development facilities in greenhouses to the tune of 4,000 square meters has been completed. In total, 18 enterprises have been introduced into the park, with the value of contracts signed reaching 2.6 billion yuan (423 million U.S. dollars), of which 131 million yuan (21.3 million U.S. dollars) has arrived.
