China: Dali Tobacco Curing Barns Uses Biomass Briquette Fuel Source from: TobaccoChina Online 12/13/2013 ![]() During 2013 baking season, in Dali Midu Red Flower Dajinyuan Science and Technology Research and Development base's curing barns (hereinafter referred to as the Red Flower Curing Barn), 126 intensive curing barns all used tobacco stem biomass briquette fuel during curing, and reduced emissions of the carbon dioxide, the atmospheric pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and soot. In 2013, the Red Flower Curing Barn used 759.75 tons biomass briquette fuel on curing leaf tobacco harvested from 1960 mu (130.66 hectares), and reduced emissions of 1990.5 tons carbon dioxide, and 4.995 tons nox, 5.55 tons sulfur dioxide, and achieved "zero" emission.
According to research, one mu tobacco field can produce 160-180 kgs biomass briquette fuel. As the improvement of curing barn, the efficiency of biomass briquette fuel buring will be improved further. Using tobacco stem biomass briquette fuel on curing, the air pollutant emissions can be reduced effectively. Tobacco farmers sell tobacco stem in one mu can earn 50 yuan, at the same time, this activity also solve the problem of the stem pollution in fields. Enditem |
