<strong>China: Sichuan Tobacco Monopoly Administration Cooperates with CDF</strong>

On January 2011, Sichuan Tobacco Monopoly Administration with CDF, the world's largest cigar tobacco production and sales company, formally signed the cigar tobacco production technology cooperation agreement. It signs the cigar tobacco international cooperation work between two sides officially kicked off. The international cooperation work has kicked off for 3 years, and the cooperative work made a major breakthrough in 2013.

Firstly, a new breakthrough has made in varieties screening. For three years, the team selected 18 cigar varieties introduced form at home and abroad, and basic mastered the characteristics of each variety, and selected the appropriate region for farming of 10 cigar tobacco varieties, and preliminary solved the current degradation problems of cigar tobacco varieties, and laid a solid foundation for expanding production demonstration in next phase.

Secondly, the complete set of production technology research has made significant progress. Through three years of exploration and research, team group basic mastered the complete set of tobacco production technology, and applied for 3 utility model patents and 1 invention patent.

Thirdly, cigar tobacco bases establishment has reached zero breakthrough. In 2012 and 2013, Qingzhou Tobacco Institute, Chuanyu TIC. and China Tobacco Anhui Industrial Corp. carries out analyzing on tobacco leaf chemical components and quality evaluation, and believed the tobacco leaf from testing fields quality overall level higher, and the leaf basically can be used in middle level hand-made cigars. Chuanyu TIC. determined to built 10 mu (0.66 hectares) of high-end wrapper cigar tobacco base and 1000 mu (66 hectares) of cigar filler base in shifang in 2014. China Tobacco Anhui Industrial Corp. determined to built 50 mu (3.3 hectares) of high-end wrapper cigar tobacco base, 200 mu (13.2 hectares) of middle-end wrapper cigar tobacco base, and 1000 mu (66 hectares) of cigar filler base in shifang in 2014.

Cigar tobacco international cooperation work has achieved progress in Sichuan province, this will lay a solid foundation for the sustained and healthy development of Sichuan province cigar tobacco. Enditem
