<strong>China: Aphidius Gifuensis Prevention Methods will be Popularized</strong>

The technology center of State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, China Leaf Tobacco Company and Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Corporation in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province held in Yuxi city on Nov. 11-12 a meeting on the prevention and control of Aphidius gifuensis with Aphidius gifuensis Ashmead, in efforts to further generalize application of biotechnology to fight Aphidius gifuensis. This is the fourth time to held this kind of training in tobacco industry, and more than 180 technicians from all over China has received training.

The professional training offered at the meeting was conducted in the form of theoretical lecturing and practical field operation in combination.

Through the systematic professional training, attending technicians in charge of the work of large-scale breeding of Aphidius gifuensis ashmead from the various branches of the city tobacco company were able to master the basic principles, leading technological procedures and essential technological know-how about large-scale breeding of Aphidius gifuensis ashmead.

Aphidius gifuensis ashmead is one of the most important primary endoparasitoids and has been found attacking the aphid in various habitats, including fields of vegetable, tobacco and ornamental plants in China. The distribution of this parasitoid is almost countrywide. Enditem
