<strong>China: Provincial Corporation Sends Delegation to Conduct Survey in Tobacco-producing Region</strong>

China Tobacco Fujian Industrial Co., Ltd. in southeast China's Fujian Province recently sent a four-member delegation to Jinsha County of Bijie City in southwest China's Guizhou Province to conduct a survey of the work of State purchase of leaf tobacco at units of Shatu Tobacco Production Base, Yumo Tobacco Production Base and the Organic Tobacco Production Base of Sweet Osmanthus Leaf Tobacco Station operated by Jinsha County Tobacco Subcompany.

The delegation grouped members of the Raw Materials Supply Department and Technology Center of China Tobacco Fujian Industrial Co., Ltd.

Accompanying the delegation on the survey were relevant leaders of Guizhou Provincial Tobacco Sciences Research Institute, Bijie City Tobacco Company, Jinsha County Tobacco Subcompany and Jinsha County Leaf Tobacco Marketing Center.

The delegation successively went deep into the base units to check the trend of growth and maturity of leaf tobacco, harvesting and curing of leaf tobacco, and purchase of leaf scraps there, etc, hearing reports given by Jinsha County Tobacco Subcompany on leaf tobacco production, and fully affirming the purchase of leaf scraps, production of organic leaf tobacco and adoption of the technology of one-time cutting of four to six upper leaves with stems.

The delegation pointed out that although Jinsha County has been hit by a severe drought this year, leaf tobacco production there has been well based and practical, with regulated procedures of the work of specialized classification and separate harvesting, and with relatively good purity of leaf tobacco of all grades.

The delegation expressed the hope that Jinsha County would continue applying balanced criteria governing leaf tobacco production, manage to improve the purity of leaf scraps in State purchase, guarantee promotion of its raw material supply to higher levels, and provide up-to-standard and high-quality raw materials for the Septwolves cigarette brand of the tobacco industry of Fujian.

The two sides also exchanged views on organic leaf tobacco production, production of high-quality leaf tobacco with local characteristics, contract farming and State leaf tobacco purchase in Jinsha County, and reached consensus on the structure of leaf tobacco of all grades in leaf tobacco allocation this year.
