Bulgarian Tobacco Growers Hope for Higher Purchase Price This Year

Sofia. Bulgarian tobacco growers hope for a little bit higher purchase price of their produce this year in comparison with last year, Tsvetan Filev, Chairperson of the National Association of Tobacco Growers (NAT – 2010), told FOCUS News Agency.

"I hope tobacco purchase price will be a little bit higher than last year's, because tobacco growers have produce of high quality which is competitive on both the Bulgarian and foreign market," he said, adding that the dry spell had affected the crop this year as well.

As to the assistance for tobacco growers, Filev said the government had promised to make sure tobacco growers would receive national additional payments for a reference period by 2020. Enditem
