<strong>China: City Tobacco Company Organizes Observation of Prevention, Control of Pests</strong>

Qujing City Tobacco Company in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province organized a delegation of deputy managers and production section chiefs with its affiliated tobacco subcompanies to observe the work of prevention and control of tobacco pests in Caiyun Township in Shizong County of the city on July 4.

The deputy managers and production section chiefs were specifically in charge of the work of pests prevention and control.

The delegation firstly went deep into demonstrative tobacco fields in Yile Village in Caiyun Township to observe comprehensive prevention and control of tobacco pests. Afterwards, the delegation visited the plant disease and pest observation and prediction station in Caiyun Township and the Aphidius Gifuensis Ashmead breeding farm there. The delegation also conducted on-site observation of operation of the tobacco pests comprehensive prevention and control direction center, where delegation members learned about information on the operational framework of the tobacco pests comprehensive prevention and control direction system, operational processes, etc in an in-depth way, heard introductions on operation given by leaders of Shizong County Tobacco Subcompany, and elaborately asked about the work of tobacco diseases and pests monitoring and prediction, breeding of Aphidius Gifuensis Ashmead in the county, etc.

After hearing introduction on the relevant work, the delegation fully affirmed the work of comprehensive prevention and control of tobacco pests by Qujing City Tobacco Company and Shizong County Tobacco Subcompany mainly focused on Research, Generalization and Application of the Technology for Prevention and Control of Tobacco Aphids with Aphidius Gifuensis Ashmead.

Firstly, the leadership of Qujing City Tobacco Company has attached great importance to the work of comprehensive prevention and control of tobacco pests, with specific assignment of responsibilities.

Secondly, remarkable achievements have been made in the work of comprehensive prevention and control of tobacco pests by Qujing City Tobacco Company and Shizong County Tobacco Subcompany mainly focused on Research, Generalization and Application of the Technology for Prevention and Control of Tobacco Aphids with Aphidius Gifuensis Ashmead, with the adoption of powerful measures.

Thirdly, with the development of a modern tobacco agriculture taking the lead, with the establishment of East Yunnan Modern Tobacco Agriculture Comprehensive Demonstration Area as an opportunity, in light of the basic guideline of "driving by efficiency, promotion by policies and promotion by science and technology", and closely in accordance with the target of producing "characteristic, high-quality, ecological and safe" leaf tobacco, there has been careful organization of the relevant work, with the highlight of priorities. The county has never waited for or relied on government support. Rather, it has actively made performance.
