US: Barley Yield and Flue-cured Tobacco Production up

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced today that barley yields in Virginia are expected to average 85 bushels per acre, up 3 bushels per acre from last year. Barley production is expected to total 3.74 million bushels, up 23 percent from 2012. Harvested acreage is expected to total 44,000 acres, up 7,000 acres from last year.

Virginia's 2013 flue-cured tobacco production is expected to total 55.2 million pounds, up 15 percent from 2012. Acres harvested are estimated at 23,000 acres, up 3,000 acres from last year. The yield forecast at 2,400 pounds to the acre is unchanged from last year. Enditem
