China: Laboratory of Qujing City Tobacco Company Wins Comparative Recognition

The Testing Laboratory of the Technology Center of Qujing City Tobacco Company in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province was among a total of 29 analytical laboratories whose testing results smoothly passed comparative recognition at the 9th tobacco mobile analytical method joint experiment summarization and technological exchange workshop held in Yunnan on May 8-10.

The workshop was held under organization by Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Quality Supervision and Testing Station. Participating in the joint experiment were the tobacco quality supervision and testing stations in 13 Chinese provinces, provincial-level municipalities and autonomous regions as well as 43 chemical and analytical testing laboratories of the technology centers of China Tobacco regional companies and the tobacco manufacturing enterprises, leaf tobacco redrying companies and prefecture tobacco companies in Yunnan.

The workshop unveiled the testing results of the "2012 tobacco chemical composition testing-continuous mobile analytical method joint experiment" conducted by the 43 chemical and analytical testing laboratories. For the Testing Laboratory of the Technology Center of Qujing City Tobacco Company, its testing results smoothly passed comparative recognition. As a result, it emerged as one of the 29 analytical laboratories whose testing results smoothly passed comparative recognition at the workshop.

The joint experiment covered five major conventional chemical indexes of five tobacco samples -- water soluble total sugar, total plant alkaloid, total nitrogen, potassium and chlorine. The workshop evaluated the testing results and overall testing proficiency of all the laboratories in conducting the experiment under all testing items and with all samples, in terms of testing results deviation, dispersibility, differentiation from the entirety, systemic errors, etc.

It was reported that since Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Quality Supervision and Testing Station organized the first joint experiment in 2003, nine such experiments have been conducted. The Testing Laboratory of the Technology Center of Qujing City Tobacco Company participated in all the nine experiments, with its testing results all smoothly passing comparative recognition in the nine joint experiments.
