<strong>China: City Administration Chief Inspects Seedlings Transplantation</strong> Source from: Qujing Tobacco Monopoly Administration 05/09/2013 ![]() Director and Manager Wu Lizhu of Qujing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province, which doubles as Qujing City Tobacco Company, went to Malong County in the city to inspect the work of transplantation of tobacco seedlings onto fields there during the current busy spring plowing season on April 30. Accompanied by leaders of Malong County Tobacco Subcompany, Wu Lizhu respectively went deep into tobacco fields in Jiuxian and Maguohe Townships in the county to conduct on-site verification of the trend of growth of tobacco there, exchanging views with staffers of the local grassroots-level leaf tobacco stations and tobacco growers, and specifically asking about transplantation of tobacco seedlings under mulching film, division of plans for tobacco growing, implementation of acreage allotments, etc. During the inspection, Wu Lizhu fully affirmed the work of tobacco seedlings transplantation overseen by Malong County Tobacco Subcompany in the previous period of time, praising the subcompany for seasonal adoption of corresponding measures for the work of transplantation, and saying that transplantation has been quite seasonal and swift, that technical guidance has been well in place in the fight against the lingering drought and in seedlings transplantation, and that the trend of growth of tobacco seedlings has been relatively favorable. On the work of tobacco production in the county over a next period of time, Wu Lizhu said that closely in accordance with the government policy of controlling the total quantity of tobacco production, efforts should be made to ensure persistence in the fight against the lingering drought and in seedlings transplantation; practically check the situation of both water ponds and tobacco crops and ascertain the actual acreage of transplantation, to keep in mind the situation of local tobacco production; assist and guide tobacco growers in doing a good job of resisting the lingering drought and protecting tobacco seedlings, to ensure survival of the tobacco seedlings transplanted onto fields; practically do a good job of preventing and fighting pests and plant diseases and guarding against possible flooding; earnestly sum up the experience in the work of transplantation of tobacco seedlings under mulching film and improve technical procedures, to ensure generalization of advanced technologies for leaf tobacco production.
