China: Regional Corporation Actively Explores Organic Tobacco Production Models

China Tobacco Guangxi Industrial Co., Ltd. in southwest China's Guangxi Region held a symposium in Xingyi City of neighboring Guizhou Province on January 22 to explore models for growing organic and ecological leaf tobacco, with the participation of relevant technicians from the University of Science and Technology of China, Qianxinan Prefecture Tobacco Company of Guizhou, Xingyi City Tobacco Subcompany and other institutions.

Over recent year, China Tobacco Guangxi Industrial Co., Ltd. has been active in guaranteeing the supply of high-quality raw materials of leaf tobacco for its production of "ecological, green and safe" cigarette products, and in exploring ways of developing a system of high-end raw materials production technologies.

It was reported that in 2012, China Tobacco Guangxi Industrial Co., Ltd., Zunyi City Tobacco Company (which doubles as Zunyi City Tobacco Monopoly Administration) and the University of Science and Technology of China succeeded in developing organic and ecological leaf tobacco with a high quality.

In efforts to realize use of organic leaf tobacco for cigarette production at an early date, China Tobacco Guangxi Industrial Co., Ltd. will, on the basis of its success in growing organic leaf tobacco in Zheng'an County of Guizhou, establish in 2013 two bases for experimental growing of organic leaf tobacco respectively in Xingyi in southwestern Guizhou and Longli County in southern Guizhou.

In doing so, China Tobacco Guangxi Industrial Co., Ltd. wishes to initially establish a system of high-end raw materials production technologies of its own through multipoint explorations, in order to pave the way for generalizing successful models of organic leaf tobacco production onto other units of bases.
