China: Prefecture Tobacco Company Sends Delegation to Visit City Tobacco Company

Chuxiong Prefecture Tobacco Company in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province sent a delegation to visit Qujing City Tobacco Company in the same province on January 7 to study the successful experience of and exchanges views with the latter in leaf tobacco production management.

Led by Director, General Manager and Communist Party Committee Secretary Yan Fei of Chuxiong Prefecture Tobacco Company, the delegation also included Deputy General Manager Dong Jianguo, Inspector Feng Zhu'an, Deputy Inspector Li Qingping, leaders of the technology center, administrative office, political work department and leaf tobacco trading department of the prefecture tobacco company and managers of some tobacco subcompanies under the prefecture tobacco company.

Receiving the delegation were Director, General Manager and Communist Party Committee Secretary Wu Lizhu, Communist Party Disciplinary Inspection Committee Secretary and Trade Union Chairman Xie Yingguai and Deputy General Manager Liu Yongjun of Qujing City Tobacco Company.

Under China's system of State tobacco monopoly, Chuxiong Prefecture Tobacco Company doubles as Chuxiong Prefecture Tobacco Monopoly Administration while Qujing City Tobacco Company is also Qujing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration.

At talks held between the two sides during the visit, Yan Fei said that the visit was mainly intended to study the successful experience of Qujing City Tobacco Company in the application of farm machinery in the whole process of leaf tobacco production, the construction of units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production and supply bases, the control of quality of leaf tobacco of all grades, the management of scientific-technological human resources, etc.

Wu Lizhu introduced to the delegation the package of eight measures adopted by Qujing City Tobacco Company in the construction of units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production and supply bases, the management of leaf tobacco purchase, improvement of the quality of leaf tobacco and efficiency in leaf tobacco production, the management of scientific-technological human resources, the application of farm machinery in the whole process of leaf tobacco production, publicity and implementation of a corporate culture, etc.

Wu Lizhu said that in 2012, Qujing City Tobacco Company actively dealt with various forms of major difficulties and severe challenges, did all it could to resist drought and provide disaster relief, improve the image of its leaf tobacco brands on a full scale, promote improvement of the structure of its leaf tobacco production on a full scale, and strengthen the management of leaf tobacco purchase and development of a modern tobacco agriculture in the whole process. As a result, Qujing City Tobacco Company succeeded in reaching record highs in terms of the scale of leaf tobacco production, the total value of leaf tobacco purchased and the average income of tobacco growers since the government adopted the policy of controlling the output of both leaf tobacco and cigarettes.

Wu Lizhu also introduced to the delegation the planning of Qujing City Tobacco Company for leaf tobacco work at present and in a future period of time, saying that Qujing City Tobacco Company will, in accordance with its unique ecological advantages, high quality of leaf tobacco products, unique styles and characteristics of leaf tobacco production, advanced technological management and harmony of the environment of leaf tobacco producing zones, accelerate an ongoing shift of the mode of development of leaf tobacco production, and enhance the capacity of guaranteeing the production and supply of high-quality characteristic leaf tobacco of Qujing City.
