China: 2012 Sino-Foreign Tobacco Seeds Technology Symposium held

The 2012 Sino-Foreign Tobacco Seeds Technology Symposium, sponsored by Yunnan Yuxi China Tobacco Seeds Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Jinghong City of Xishuangbanna Prefecture in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on December 4-7, with the participation of Chinese and foreign experts and scholars, leaders in charge of leaf tobacco production and technology with provincial- and city-level leaf tobacco companies in China and representatives from manufacturing enterprises to the tune of 106 persons.

At the meeting, the participants attended ceremonies for unveiling the nameplates of China-Britain Tobacco Seeds Technology Joint Laboratory and China-Netherlands Tobacco Seeds Technology Joint Laboratory, attended workshop meetings on exclusive subjects, and conducted discussions and exchanged views on seeds technology.

The meeting sufficiently showed new technology for and new achievements in the development of tobacco seeds in China and abroad, showed on a full scale the production and management levels of Xishuangbanna Tobacco Seeds Farmstead, and contributed to establishing a favorable platform for academic and technological exchange on tobacco seeds, which will be of great significance to promoting scientific development of Yunnan Yuxi China Tobacco Seeds Co., Ltd. and promoting progress in the development of seeds technology in China and abroad.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the participants also visited the Xishuangbanna Tobacco Seeds Farmstead. Enditem
