China: Prefecture Tobacco Company Delegation Visits County Tobacco Subcompany

A 10-member delegation from Liangshan Prefecture Tobacco Company in southwest China's Sichuan Province visited Luoping County Tobacco Subcompany in the neighboring Yunnan Province on November 2, exchanging views with the hosts on the construction of zones for demonstrating modernization of ways of leaf tobacco production.

The delegation was accompanied by Qujing City Tobacco Company Deputy Inspector and Leaf Tobacco Production Department Director Mao Jianshu during the visit.

During the visit, the delegation was respectively shown around the site of land preparation for leaf tobacco production in Luoxiong Township of Luoping County, the site of a project of building support infrastructure facilities for leaf tobacco production, Yimin Farm Machinery Cooperative and Yifeng Tobacco Farm Machinery 4S Shop in the county.

Luoping County Tobacco Subcompany Deputy Manager Wang Chaozuo introduced in detail the construction of "Ten Major Projects" in the county, including basic tobacco fields planning, land preparation and modernization of ways of leaf tobacco production.

At Yimin Farm Machinery Cooperative in Luoxiong Township, the delegation examined with great interests farm machinery for tobacco production including rotary cultivators, transplanters, mulch applicators and leaf pickers; asked in detail about the types, quantity, prices, operation rates, etc of the various forms of farm machinery there; and held in-depth exchange of views with the relevant staffers of Yimin Farm Machinery Cooperative on organizational development of cooperatives, operation management, returns on equity, etc.

Through the visit and exchange of views, the delegation was able to have in-depth understanding of the construction of zones for demonstrating modernization of ways of leaf tobacco production in Luoping County, highly commented on the development of tobacco cooperatives and mechanization of tobacco agriculture in Luoping County, and expressed the belief that the work of development of whole-process mechanization in leaf tobacco production in Luoping County has play an active role in promoting realization of the targets of "reducing manpower, lowering costs and increasing efficiency".

In a next period of time, Liangshan Prefecture Tobacco Company will draw on the successful experience and approaches of Luoping County Tobacco Subcompany in promoting modernization of ways of leaf tobacco production, in efforts to further promote the development of a modern tobacco agriculture in Liangshan Prefecture.
