China: Government Delegation Inspects Work of Leaf Tobacco Purchase in  County

A delegation from the government of Qjing City in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province, led by Zhao Peiming, member of the Standing Committee of Qujing City Communist Party Committee and political commissar of Qujing City Military Sub-Area Command, and Rao Wei, vice mayor of Qujing City, was in Luoping County of the city on September 11-12 to inspect the work of State leaf tobacco purchase during the current leaf tobacco harvest and curing season.

Accompanying the delegation during the inspection were Liu Yongjun, deputy manager of Qujing City Tobacco Company; Han Kaizhu, secretary of Luoping County Communist Party Committee; and chief leaders of Luoping Coutny Tobacco Subcompany and other staff members concerned. During the inspection, the delegation respectively went to the leaf tobacco purchase stations or points in Jiulong Township, Jiuwuji Township, Dashuijing Township, Agang Town and other areas to check the grading and purity of leaf tobacco in storage. The delegation elaborately asked about progress in State leaf tobacco purchase from local farmers, the application of standards in leaf tobacco purchase, the quality of leaf tobacco purchased, etc. The delegation also held talks with local tobacco growers selling leaf tobacco at the stations or points on the acreage of leaf tobacco, leaf tobacco sales to the State, service by government-run tobacco stations, etc. After conducting on-site inspection and hearing reports, the delegation fully affirmed the work of Luoping County in leaf tobacco production and purchase, and believed that the bundles of leaf tobacco purchased in Luoping are of a high purity and high quality, and that the work of State leaf tobacco purchase in Luoping County is in steady progress. On work over a future period of time, the delegation required that efforts be made to continue well organizing field management, and adhere to the principle of picking leaf tobacco at times of maturity, to ensure the quality of leaf tobacco; that intense efforts be made to organize preliminary inspection at the place of production of farmers, adhere to the principle of highlighting purity, and scientifically follow technical standards, to improve the quality of leaf tobacco purchase; that steps be taken to earnestly implement the intensive leaf tobacco purchase model, and strictly follow procedures in operation, to ensure open, fair and impartial purchase of leaf tobacco; and that efforts also be made to unify standards in leaf tobacco purchase, realize smooth purchase, and put an end to the phenomenon of fluctuations in applying standards in leaf tobacco purchase, to practically protect fundamental interests of local tobacco growers, and to ensure smooth fulfillment of the work of State leaf tobacco purchase from Luoping County for the current year.
