China: CPPCC Official Inspects Purchase of Loose Leaf Tobacco from Growers

Chairman Zhao Jianhua of Qujing City Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), together with Secretary General Gao Jigui of Qujing City Committee of the CPPCC, traveled to Caiyun Leaf Tobacco Station in Shizong County of Qujing City on September 5 to inspect State purchase of loose leaf tobacco from growers in the local region during the current tobacco harvest and curing season. Accompanying Zhao and Gao on the inspection were Chairman He Pinghua and Deputy Chairmen Nian Yawei and Li Yafu of Shizong County Committee of the CPPCC, Shizong County deputy chief An Xingrong, Shizong County Tobacco Control Office director Kang Yongxian, Manager Wu Jian of Shizong County Tobacco Subcompany, officials from the Production Section of Shizong County Tobacco Subcompany and others. During the inspection, Zhao and his entourage went to site of Xiaochangshan leaf tobacco purchase line of Caiyun Leaf Tobacco Station to check the work of centralized and specialized classification in the purchase of leaf tobacco from sporadic growers. At the site, Zhao specifically asked management staff members and operators of specialized classification and purchase about centralized and specialized classification and purchase of leaf tobacco from sporadic growers. Zhao also talked with tobacco growers selling leaf tobacco there, asking them about their opinions on the width of purchase of bundles and on the purchase of loose leaf tobacco from growers, as well as on implementation of policies on optimizing the structure of leaf tobacco. After conducting the on-site inspection and hearing reports, Zhao pointed out that Shizong County needs to follow the successful approaches adopted by other counties of Qujing City in purchasing loose leaf tobacco from growers last year, adhere to leaf tobacco purchase by contracts and by samples, balance standards in purchase, well conduct on-site management, strictly comply with the procedures for purchase, observe the disciplines for purchase, and strengthen whole-process control over the quality of leaf tobacco of all grades, in order to practically accomplish the tasks for State leaf tobacco purchase for the current year.
