India: Andhra Flue-cured Selling out Source from: Tobacco Reporter 08/21/2012 Flue-cured tobacco auctions in Andhra Pradesh, India, are proceeding at pace and sales have concluded at some centers, according to a story in the latest issue of the BBM Bommidala Group newsletter.
The Group reported that more than 152.79 million kg of leaf had been sold after 135 days of sales, up from the 127.19 million kg that had been sold by the same stage of last season’s auctions.
More than 70.03 million kg of the leaf sold so far this season has comprised bright grades.
The Tobacco Board authorized a crop of 162 million kg in Andhra, but it is expected to reach about 164 million kg. Enditem
