China: Sichuan Province Launches out 69 Modern Agriculture Production Bases

Sichuan province begins to build 69 modern agriculture production bases, and the area of leaf tobacco plantation accounted 70 percent of total plantation of Sichuan province, ranks top in China, according to a source of Sichuan province tobacco office. Among the 69 modern agriculture production bases, 28 (including 10 special quality leaf tobacco development bases) listed in production bases project of State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, 41 listed in production bases project of Sichuan Tobacco Monopoly Administration. 3.45 million mu (0.23 million hectares ) field for planting leaf tobacco, each year 1.15 million mu plants leaf tobacco, and generates 3.45 million dans (1.755 million kgs) leaf tobacco. Each production base develops one project, implements one set of processing standard, and provides leaf tobacco for one cigarette manufacturer. One production base covers about 17000 mu ( 1133.33 hectares ),. Sichuan province began to build modern tobacco agriculture system, and rolled out through the province in 2010, and improved it in this year. Until now, Sichuan province has invested 3.6 billion yuan (excluding government investment) in leaf tobacco facilities establishment. In 2011, premium and middle grade leaf tobacco production accounted to 93.08 percent in tobacco production bases in Sichuan. Enditem
