China: Henan Province Plans to Increase Tobacco Purchasing Price by 20 Percent Source from: TobaccoChina Online 08/02/2012 This year Henan province plans to purchase leaf tobacco from August 1, and price will be increased by 20 percent year-on-year, according to Henan leaf tobacco purchasing and modern agriculture establishment meeting on July 30.
One official of Henan Tobacco Monopoly Administration introduced that, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) ordered Henan province to purchase 175,000 tons leaf tobacco, increased by 51,500 tons from 123,500 tons of last year, and this is a big challenge.
In order to achieve the purchasing goal, Henan province increased input in tobacco production. According to data, 5 major tobacco planting areas has planted 1.115 million mu (743333.33 hectares) tobacco, accounted to 79 percent of total tobacco areas in Henan.
The official said that the leaf tobacco will purchased on contacts with tobacco farmers. Enditem
