China: International Quality Leaf Tobacco Development Meeting Held in Kunming Source from: TobaccoChina Online 08/01/2012 International Quality Leaf Tobacco Development Meeting held in Kunming recently. Participants discussed topics such as clean production and maturity of leaf tobacco.
Yang Peisen, Deputy Director of STMA, and Kong Chuizhu, Vice-governor of Yunnan Province, attended the meeting and gave speeches respectively.
Kong expressed that he hoped participants gave suggestions on quality leaf tobacco development, ecological layout, technology innovation of Yunnan leaf tobacco development, etc.. He said that in recent years, Yunnan made efforts to improve quality of leaf tobacco, to output excellent materials for domestics and international enterprises, and to provide leaf tobacco for more than 10 key brands? In the future, Yunnan will become a most influential tobacco production base with plateau ecological characteristics in China.
Yang fully affirmed leaf tobacco production and research work in Yunnan. He hoped Yunan continued to develop green ecological tobacco technologies.
International experts from North Carolina State University, University of Virginia, Zimbabwe Tobacco Institute, BAT, Japan Tobacco Corp., Yunnan Agricultural University, Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine, Yunnan Tobacco Agricultural Science Research Institute, attended the meeting.
