China: Provincial Corporation Delegation Inspects Leaf Tobacco Production

A delegation from China Tobacco Shandong Industrial Co., Ltd. in east China’s Shandong Province, led by its Materials Supply Procurement General Manager Bu Xiaodong, went to Liaokuo Sub-District in Qilin District of Qujing City in southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province to inspect leaf tobacco production there on July 22, in preparation for leaf tobacco purchase from the district in the forthcoming harvest season. The delegation was accompanied by Deputy Manager Liu Yongjun of Qujing City Tobacco Company during the inspection. Through examination of field growth of leaf tobacco and flue-cured leaf tobacco, and after hearing reports, Bu Xiaodong affirmed the work of leaf tobacco production in Qilin District, saying that as an old tobacco-producing area, Qilin District boasts favorable natural conditions and fine tobacco production technologies, and produces high-quality leaf tobacco. Therefore, Qilin District has much successful experience that the tobacco industry of Shandong can draw on. Mount Taishan cigarette brand of China Tobacco Shandong Industrial Co., Ltd. has rich cultural significance, with a favorable trend of development. It has increasingly high requirement for raw materials, Bu Xiaodong said, expressing the hope that the two sides will have more cooperation in technological training and technical service in future, in order to increase the aroma of leaf tobacco, make leaf tobacco more usable, and create conditions for realizing a win-win situation. Liu Yongjun also expressed hope for strengthening cooperation with China Tobacco Shandong Industrial Co., Ltd. in future: Firstly, the two sides need to launch demonstrative experiments in the development of some new tobacco varieties to determine the right varieties, in striving to make new progress annually. And secondly, production and technological human resources from the two sides need to have more exchange in future, in order to deepen mutual understanding, keep improving ways of production, and provide high-quality leaf tobacco for the production of Mount Taishan brand cigarettes.
