China: Township Tobacco Station Operates Training on Leaf Tobacco Curing

Dapo Township Leaf Tobacco Station of Zhanyi County Tobacco Subcompany in Qujing City of southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province launched on July 13 a program to operate training of its staff members and leaf tobacco curing technicians and managers in the township on leaf tobacco curing. In light of the present situation of leaf tobacco curing, the chief of the leaf tobacco station put forward a package of requirements for the work of leaf tobacco curing in Dapo Township: Firstly, efforts shall be made to do a good job of management of tobacco crops in the middle and late periods of growing. In light of particular weather conditions, the awareness about management in the middle and late periods of growing shall be enhanced. Besides, steps shall be taken to do a good job of management in all aspects including grass removal, raising ditches, ridging, prevention and control of pests and plant diseases. And secondly, various aspects of the work of training shall be well done prior to the start of the leaf tobacco harvest season. Efforts shall be made to strengthen the management of technicians, do a good job of publicity about leaf tobacco purchase by the State in 2012, strengthen management over preliminary quality inspection on the spot and increase the purity of leaf tobacco bundles. The leaf tobacco station particularly invited masters from the Technology Center of Qujing City Tobacco Company to give lectures to the trainees on leaf tobacco curing skills. Enditem
